- Glucosamine is a building block for cartilage and joint tissue. It’s essential for the syntheses of several important macromolecules including glycoproteins, glycolipids and glycosaminoglycans. These macromolecules can be found in the synovial fluid, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and muscles.
- Another essential building block of cartilage is chondroitin; this tough tissue acts as a shock absorber around the joints in humans and animals. It’s chondroitin’s job to help your cartilage hang on to water. Chondroitin is also found in tendons, ligaments, bone, and skin.
- These supplements contain MSM – a natural form of organic sulphur which supports the body’s production of glycosaminoglycans (key components of cartilage).
