Rated 5 out of 5 by Good honest grub! Barley flakes are larger and more chewy than oat flakes, but they soften readily if you soak them in water or milk for a short time. They taste similar to oat flakes - a mild, unrefined, unpretentious flavour. I discovered you can make a quick, tasty meal if you put some dry barley flakes in a bowl and add a tin of baked beans in tomato sauce. Stir the 2 ingredients together so that the flakes absorb all the sauce. Eat cold. It has a delicious flavour and contains good quality protein because the 2 ingredients complement each other's set of amino acids. 23 December 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great I add these to my porridge as i love barley and the nutrition profile. Also great in soup. These cook fast as they are rolled. Very convenient product that forms a permanent part of my diet. Obviously these don't have the texture of pearl barley. 22 November 2013

These barley flakes really enhance the morning bowl of porridge; mixed with a third jumbo flakes and a third ordinary porridge, the addition of a further third of barley flakes provides a healthy and invigorating breakfast (along with a little manuka honey). 14 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great low fat base for muesli For anyone watching their saturated fat intake this a great alternative to oats, with only 0.1g of sat fat per 100g compared to 1.1g for oats (overall fat 1.8g vs 6.3g). Also tastes better, with a slightly nutty flavour. 22 July 2012
