World Champion Dancer, qualified Personal Trainer and TV personality Karen Hauer is a leading voice in fitness, wellness and self-care. Karen lives a very active lifestyle but also knows the power of rest for recovery. Her favourite way to stay active during any downtime is by taking long walks with her dogs and her best way to unwind at the end of a long day is to add magnesium salts to the bath before bed!
Karen has partnered with Holland & Barrett to share her knowledge and encourage you to take good care of your joints, bones and muscles.
We’ve put together a 30-day movement calendar, with the help of Karen Hauer and a stamp of approval from The British Society Lifestyle Medicine, just for you! We know how important improving your mental and emotional health is, which is why we’ve added in trying to wind down from the week with a 10-minute yoga session. Also in there are things like bicycle crunches while the kettle boils and focusing on your core for the day!
Once you've completed this challenge, you could book a 15-minute conversation to check in on your joints, bones and muscles.
We’ve got over 150 years of expertise behind us – and we’re continually growing, thanks to specialists like our Digital Health Lead, Fiona Sweny.
Fiona has highlighted the plank as her favourite exercise from the 30-day challenge. She says, "a plank is an exercise that shouldn’t be underestimated, as it demands quite a lot of strength and control to perform it well. There are a number of variations on a plank, you can try it on your knees if you're a beginner, a side plank or on an unstable surface, all which have different levels of difficulty."
As a former Army Officer and a qualified physiotherapist, Fiona really knows her stuff when it comes to getting set for more movement. Her career as a physiotherapist includes working for England Rugby and The Royal Ballet School.
