Christmas is the perfect time of year to offer up beauty treats of a hand-crafted variety. Not only are they quick and inexpensive to create but your fondest of friends will radiate Christmas cheer for an oh-so thoughtful addition to their bathroom cupboards. Here are four of the best homemade beauty gifts:
- Gingerbread lip scrub
For a festive tingle that lasts long after Christmas day, this gingerbread goody is the ideal offering.
Ingredients:
- 300g sugar
- 150g coconut oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp molasses/black treacle – this will be perfect
- 3/4 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cloves
How to make it:
Combine sugar and solid coconut oil in a bowl. Pour in your honey and molasses and stir well. Pop your festive spices in and mix together until all are folded in. Once your sugary scrub is made, decant into a tub and tie with a festive bow.
- Santa’s sea salt spray
If you know a friend who is after tousled locks for Christmas, look no further than this secret recipe from Santa himself…
Ingredients:
- A spray bottle
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
- 1 tbsp leave-in conditioner
- 300g warm water
How to make it:
Pour the water and sea salt into your spray bottle and give it a shake. Mix the melted coconut oil with the leave in conditioner and once the salt has dissolved, pop in the mixture.
Shake the bottle again and there you have it.
- White Christmas bath milk
For a relaxing festive soak, give this bath milk a go:
Ingredients:
- 200g powdered milk
- 150g Epsom salt
- 20 drops Lemon essential oil
- 4 drops Camomile essential oil
How to make it:
Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then add the oils. Once mixed, pop into a glass bottle of your choice. For a super kitsch feel, you could try a traditional glass milk bottle – washed first of course!
- Charcoal face mask
Far from its lumpy and undesirable counterpart, this impurity-lifting face mask is the prefect post-Xmas skin treat.
- 2 capsules of activated charcoal
- 1/2 tsp of bentonite clay
- 1 1/2 tsp water
How to make it:
Gently twist and pull apart the charcoal capsules to empty. Mix all ingredients together with a wooden spoon to form a paste and voila! Pop into a container and nestle under the tree.
