No one can afford to not wear sun cream as it protects our faces from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Without it, you are risking damaging your skin and increasing your chances of getting skin cancer.
Rain or shine, protect your skin
It doesn’t matter if you’re going to be spending 10 minutes outside or a full day, you need to wear sun cream. You shouldn’t just apply it when it’s sunny either, you can burn even on cloudy and overcast days.
Skin type considerations
If you have oily or combination skin, you might be reluctant to slap on the sun cream because in the past it’s made your face super shiny and caused acne breakouts. But you need to put your long term health first.
There are hundreds of different sun creams you can choose from and it might just be that you’ve chosen the wrong type before. If you do have oily or combination skin, you don’t want to opt for a sun cream that’s been designed for normal or dry skin as it will make your face look greasy. Instead, you should choose an oil-free sun cream and put it on after you moisturise each morning and before you apply your makeup. Your skin might still shine a little, but it’ll be nowhere near as bad as before.
You’ll need to keep reapplying sun cream throughout the day to make sure you’re fully protected. It’s essential you wash and cleanse your face thoroughly before you go to bed to make sure no sun cream is left on your skin.
Wearing sun cream with a skin condition
If you have eczema, rosacea or another skin condition there are specialist sun creams available that you might be able to get on prescription from your doctor.
