DIY Aromatherapy: boost your moisturiser with chamomile and rose

Aromatherapy using essential oils is all about finding what works best for you. It’s about properly protecting and moisturising your skin, and achieving adequate relief from infections, cuts, bruises and more.

When it comes to protection, chamomile oil (for helping with irritable or sensitive skin) and rose oil (for mature skin) can both be added to a regular moisturiser to give it that little extra boost, depending on what you’re looking to achieve.

If it’s something you’ve not tried before, perhaps it’s time to give it a go. So, let’s see how you can improve your DIY moisturiser and take real care of your skin using completely natural methods.

Chamomile for dry, sensitive skin and rose oil for mature skin

    What you’ll need

    • Chamomile oil or rose oil
    • A bottle or tub of unscented moisturiser (ensure there are no nasty chemicals that could irritate your skin, or interfere with the relaxing odours of your chosen essential oil)
    • A spoon or a small spatula to mix
    • A small jar with a lid to keep the mix secure.

    Method

    1. Simply grab the moisturiser and scoop out a few big dollops into the small jar.
    2. Then add five drops of your chosen essential oil.
    3. Take your spoon or spatula and give it a quick mix.

That’s all you need to do, and you’ll be left with a moisturiser with an extra kick to it.

Not only that, but because of the oil, the moisturiser will now carry that wonderful scent of the essential oil. Breathe it in and enjoy those extra added benefits for your body and mind.
