8 essential oil Christmas blend recipe ideas

Christmas is awash with festive recipes. Recipes for Christmas pud, grandma’s ‘secret’ festive gravy, the perfect mulled wine and the best-tasting (not too dry, just right) turkey and all the trimmings.

But what about Christmas oil blend recipes? Have you ever fancied having a go at making one of those?

One of the best things about making these festive beauty ‘recipes’, is that you can make the most of any essential oils you may already have dotted around your house. Plus, you can create your very own essential oil Christmas blend recipe.

Sounds heavenly, doesn’t it? So let’s dive right in with some DIY Christmas essential oil blend ideas. And remember – there’s no limit to how creative you want to be, the more creative, the more scent-sational your Christmas oil blend recipe’s going to be!

But first, here’s a little bit of insight about using essential oils…

    How to use essential oils

They can be used in so many different ways, each as invigorating as the other. You can:1

    Inhale them

Unscrew the lid and take a deep breath in, being careful that the undiluted oil doesn’t touch your skin. Don’t overdo it, two to three deep breaths is all you need.

Alternatively, you can dab a few drops on a cotton wall ball, your pillowcase or some other fabric and then gently breathe in. This method’s known as dry evaporation.

    Steam them

Grab a bowl of hot water and a towel. Pop a few drops of essential oil into the water, place your head over it, and then cover your head with a towel. Close your eyes and breathe in the aroma for several minutes. Again, don’t overdo it, less is more.

    Apply them

It is possible to massage essential oils into the skin, but you must make sure they’ve been diluted with a carrier oil beforehand. Put the recipe into a rollerball applicator and dab it on to your pulse points or simply use the tips of your fingers to work the oil into your skin, i.e. massage the oil into your feet or place a few drops around your nose.

    Bathe or shower in them

Splash a few drops on to your shower walls and let the drops infuse your shower steam or pour several drops under the tap as you fill up your bath.

    Diffuse them

In a diffuser device that carefully releases the essential oil into the air. Diffusers come in lots of different designs, ranging from reed diffusers to electric and ceramic diffusers.
