About Dr Ben
I am Head of Science at Holland & Barrett, where I lead a team of Senior Scientists supporting new and existing product development from concept through to commercialisation. Working closely with regulatory, technical, sourcing and product teams, we ensure ingredient selection, dosage and format are both effective and compliant, underpinned by robust scientific evidence.
I hold a PhD in nutrition and metabolism and have a diverse background spanning performance nutrition, academia and medical nutrition. My career has included supporting professional sports teams, completing an industry-funded doctorate, and bringing innovative medical nutrition products to market that are now available on NHS prescription. I have published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at conferences, contributed to expert panels, hosted a podcast and spoken widely via webinars.
Where time allows, I mentor nutrition graduates as an AfN-accredited mentor, support PhD students, and have contributed at working group and executive level within the British Specialist Nutrition Association. At Holland & Barrett, my focus is championing a culture of science-led, data-driven decision-making in everything we do.
