About Dr Sophie
Dr Sophie Putnam As Head of Science at Holland & Barrett, I lead a team of Senior Scientists and Dietitians working cross-functionally to support the activation of our science-led strategy.
I hold a PhD in Nutrition from the University of Reading and have over 17 years’ experience in the functional food & supplement sectors, gained from global science & innovation roles across consumer healthcare, consultancy and retail.
I've previously held leadership roles with global organisations including GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare and Suntory Beverage and Food Europe. My career to date encompasses nutrition science research, functional food and supplement innovation & product development (including Asia-Europe lift and launches), regulations, IP strategy and patents, and scientific communication. I have a particular passion for driving evidence-based innovation and elevating robust, science-led claims.
