The simplest but most delicious recipe, which tastes just like chocolate ice cream but with good-for-you ingredients.
There is no added sugar, the sweetness comes from the banana, so you won’t get that horrible afternoon sugar crash. It’s also plant-based and gluten-free!
Our Squirrel Sisters Cacao Brownie bars crumbled up inside make it taste like it’s got cookie dough mixed in and I love using the spare bar as a flake alternative.
2 x large bananas (Frozen/chopped into pieces) – you will need to do this in advance/the night before
2 tsps Cacao Nibs
2 tbsps Cacao Powder
4 tbsp’s Oat drink
1 Heaped Tsp Peanut Butter
1
Take one of the Squirrel Sisters Cacao Brownie Bar packs and crumble up both sticks using your hands until it resembles little pieces (like cookie dough). You can crumble them up into the tray they come in. Put to one side.
2
In your food processor add the frozen banana, cacao nibs, cacao powder, oat milk and peanut butter. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add a drop more oat drink milk if the mix is quite stiff.
3
Once smooth remove the blade from the food processor and add in the crumbled Squirrel Sisters bar. Mix together using a spoon.
4
Serve the ‘Nice’ Cream into 2 little bowls.
5
Take the second Squirrel Sisters Cacao Brownie bar pack and pop the 2 sticks into each ‘Nice’ Cream as a garnish/flake alternative.
6
Enjoy straight away!
Squirrel Sisters is an award-winning, no added sugar, healthy snacking brand with a range of delicious snacks that will satisfy your taste-buds as well as your health. Squirrel Sisters is on a mission to revolutionise the snacking category and help you Treat Your Health.
Gracie launched the business in 2015 with her sister Sophie after Sophie was diagnosed with a heart condition called Wolfe-Parkinson-Whyte, which required surgery.
After the surgery Sophie started reacting really badly to sugars and processed foods, she could not tolerate any sugar in her diet. Trying to find tempting foods for her that had no added sugar was almost impossible so Gracie went on a mission to research foods that would be suitable for her.
She found none and was shocked at what she discovered about the majority of snacks and the extent to which sugar is hidden in our food.
So, Gracie started to create her own recipes for Sophie that were healthy, tasty and naturally delicious. Having spent a good few years researching ingredients and brands when Gracie was creating treats for Sophie it was clear that there was a huge gap in the market for genuinely good for you, great tasting snacks.
The majority of snacking brands add syrups or sugar alternatives to their products, which in some cases can be just as bad if not worse than refined sugar.
Squirrel Sisters snacks contain no added sugar whatsoever, they are also vegan and gluten-free and they taste amazing (they’ve got the awards to back that claim up). Their snacks have also been certified by Sugarwise, an international authority for sugar claims against food and drink
