Choose rice cakes with a thin topping of dark chocolate or yogurt for a healthy snack with just enough sweetness to curn your craving.
Popcorn might traditionally be a cinema treat but it’s a great choice for weight loss. Choose a sweet flavour (but not the kind that’s coated in a caramel crust).
It’s a low fat choice with the added benefit that it’s packed with fibre.
Whey ice cream
Blend ice, water, a scoop of whey protein powder, and a pinch of xantham gum in a high powered blender. The result is a thick, sweet ice cream type concoction packed with protein and low in fat, carbs, and sugars. What’s not to love?
Peel a banana, chop into bite-sized chunks, and freeze. Each mouthful will be a refreshing, soft, sweet treat which won’t ruin your diet. Did you know: Bananas are a source of Vitamins B6 and C, potassium, and fibre?
Frozen berries and greek yoghurt
Add frozen berries to a small bowlful of low-fat real Greek yoghurt for a sweet treat. It’s low in sugar and high in protein. You could add puffed rice or puffed wheat cereal, some chopped dark chocolate or a little dried fruit to top it off.
Blend some frozen banana, frozen berries, a scoop of protein powder, some low fat real Greek yogurt, and a squeeze of honey. Use enough water to create a smoothie texture for a refreshing and nutritious sweet snack.
Homemade trail mix
A trial mix is a combination of all things good – dried fruits, nuts and cereals.
Try making your own by combining your favourite raw nuts, seeds, puffed cereal or toasted oat flakes. Add a little bit of sweetness with coconut flakes, chopped dark chocolate or cacao, dried fruit and/or goji berries.
Top tip: Keep the mixture in an air tight container and make sure you monitor your portion size.
