    #21Days Journey Q&A

Beth Harris is one of our lovely store supervisors. She has worked at Holland and Barrett for a year and is now training to become one of our managers. She absolutely loves sport and has fought her way to nearly becoming a black belt in Taekwondo. With her other spare time she enjoys the theatre and plays the piano. Beth has taken part in our #21days journey and has had some amazing results…

Tell us a little bit about what you did to get involved with the #21Days Journey:

For my #21days journey I pledged to keep boosting healthy habits over all aspects of life. I made sure I was going to the gym once or twice a week and pushing myself to lift more weights and learning new ways to do it, plus I continued my martial arts training outside of sessions. I did research into alkalising and anti-carcinogenic foods and upped my intake of those, finding new and interesting ways to add them into my diet. I detoxed my body so that I could feel clean and almost reset and tried a variety of new herbal teas. And I made sure to keep making my supergreens and turmeric juices and drinking them every day even if I don’t like the taste!  I would love to connect with some more people who have done or are trying to do something similar!

What did you enjoy doing the most? Was it cooking, exercising more or just making the smaller changes to your lifestyle?

Actually most of it, but particularly detoxing my body, I used the Ortis detox and I felt so much cleaner, had even more energy than usual and it was motivating in keeping the rest of my lifestyle clean and healthy. Also loved finding new food and drink that are alkalising to the system because it made me feel great to know how good it is for the body, and there are so many tasty options!

Did you ever encounter any obstacles over the 21 days? Lack of willpower, busy lifestyle etc.?

I want to say yes to this but I actually felt so empowered and happy doing it that it didn’t feel like a struggle or a pain to do it. Though one thing that did require giving myself a kick was making sure I had good portable dinners when going to the gym straight from work, as it can be a little time consuming! But I knew if I didn’t then I’d have to buy something quick and lacking in the right nutrition.

But I felt motivated to generally keep going because nothing feels better than being healthy and happy. I actually looked forward to going to the gym and seeing the difference as I toned up and loved feeling productive.

Overall, how are you feeling post #21Days? What would you recommend others do to get started on their journeys?

I’m feeling great, very energetic (which may actually be annoying some people!) and so positive. I can see muscle tone developing and as I’m currently training for my black belt in Taekwondo it is giving me extra strength, power and energy in sessions.

arm muscle building before and after

I really would recommend going on a detox for anyone wanting to start #21days, just to get the bad build up out of your system, and to almost reset everything. Drinking an alkalising juice and taking vitamins and supplements gives you that extra boost to make you feel more alert and believe that you are really making a positive difference to yourself. And more than anything, there are always people wanting to do the same thing, find or meet people who are doing the #21days journey too to keep you going! It’s so worth it to stick with it and get into healthy habits!
