Gut-friendly dressing FAQs

What herb can I use instead of coriander?

Flat-leaf parsley is the closest substitute for coriander, as it has a similar look and texture. Parsley has a milder flavour, so adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice can help recreate coriander’s bright, citrusy notes. If you’re not a fan of coriander’s distinctive taste, fresh mint or dill also work well, bringing a fresh, vibrant flavour without the more divisive ‘soapy’ notes some people experience.

Can I substitute limes for lemons?

Yes, you can substitute lemons for limes in this recipe. Both provide a similar level of acidity, so they can usually be swapped at a 1:1 ratio. The flavour will be slightly different, with lemon giving a softer, sweeter citrus note, but it’ll still work beautifully in the dressing.

How long does homemade citrus vinaigrette last in the fridge?

Homemade citrus vinaigrettes made with fresh ingredients such as garlic, herbs and citrus juice will keep in the fridge for around three days. Store in an airtight container and give it a good shake or stir before serving, as natural separation may occur.
